Job descriptions from the workers perspective. There are a variety of jobs in ski resorts. You could be running your own
chalet and playing host to parties of holidaying guests. Or you could spend
your days cruising around off-piste as a ski guide. You could also be serving
up the cocktails in the bar, spinning the tunes as the resident DJ or even washing
up in the hotel kitchens.
The trick is to find the job that suits your skills and gives you the best
opportunities to actually do some skiing. It's important to choose the right job for you,
because different jobs enable you to ski more, and some jobs allow you to only really
enjoy the apres ski.
Each company varies so when applying make sure you read the job descriptions and
their profile carefully, as it is often hard to jump ship when you are out there.
Many ski companies have a clause in your contract that states if you want to leave
their employment you are not permitted to work in the same resort for six months.
Working in Ski Resorts can be a fantastic experience or the job from hell, some of
it amounts to luck, which resort you get, how large the chalet is, etc but doing your
research does pay off and ensure you get employed with the right company, in a great
resort with a job that allows you spend the best part of six months skiing.
